Credit score help???

My credit score dropped 36 points in the last month, and I don't know why. All of my accounts are always paid in full and on time. I have not opened or applied for any new credit in the past 6 months. I ran my credit report in late September, and noticed some negative items on my report that were incorrect. I contacted the credit bureau to dispute these items, and they were all removed. The credit bureau sent me an updated report in late October showing that the negative items were removed, and in November, my credit score is now lower. Can requesting a copy of your own credit report lower your credit score by that much? I would really like any insight anyone can provide. I have been working very hard in the last 2 1/2 years since my divorce to rebuild my credit, and my score increased over 170 points in that time, and now it is going down and I don't know why. I have done nothing that I know of to make it go down. Please help!!!! I don't want to pay someone to clean up my credit. My credit is fine. I pay all my bills on time, all the time, and my score has been going up. I just want to know why, if I don't have any new negative information on my credit report, why would the credit score go down?

  1. I could be a variety of things. The FICO scoring model uses thousands of factors when calculating your scores. I would reccommend having a professional look at your reports to help you understand whats going on. I used this company: http://www.expert-credit-advice.com/request_analysis.htm
  2. If you want to spend a little money, go to http://www.myfico.com/12 and order a credit score. At this site they will give you a more advanced report, including all of the negative codes and an explanation of what they mean, and how you can improve your score. FICO is the folks who developed the scoring system.
  3. http://www.topherreimroc.com/FixMyCredit -Here's a site that can help you fix your credit score in a simple, easy, and most importantly free form. Taking 5 minutes to fill out this form could save you hundreds of dollars. It helped me personally get away from my bad credit; I highly recommend it.
