Will opening a pre-approved american express green card help my credit score?

My balance to available credit ratio is not as good as it could be (15,000:30,000), and is really the only negative thing about my credit. Would opening an american express green card help/hurt/not affect my credit score.  Thanks for any tips.

  1. There are a number of factors this depends on. It will help if you have no other credit accounts and you do not put a balance on it. It will hurt if you have many credit accounts and none are being used. A big factor that goes into your score is available credit. If now you have 15k in available credit and you open a new card and then have 20k in available credit then your score should improve
  2. The best thing you could do for your credit is to pay off the debt you already have, rather then increasing the amount you can borrow. It is fiscally responsible compared to just trying to increase your debt/credit ratio.
  3. The green card is a charge card not a credit card. With a charge card you have to pay off the entire balance every month. A charge card is reported every month like a credit card. If you pay on time your credit score will go up. Keep in mind if you are late with payments, or if you only pay a portion of the full balance your credit score will go down. http://www.creditfast.com
  4. it will help you if you make your payments on time and if you have balances on other credit cards and transfer them to the new credit so that way you use it and most of the time they have zero interest on balance transfers, check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com and compare all major credit cards side by side.
