How can I improve me credit score to help with car refinancing?

I bought a car recently and was given 15% interest, with a co-signer. Attempting to improve my credit beforehand, I got a Macy's card a couple of months ago, along with a Target card. I've also had a Student Credit Card with Bank of America for almost a year now. I didn't know that opening various accounts would make a negative impact on my credit, however. Does anyone have any suggestions on improving my credit, in hope for getting a refinance on my car sometime in the future for a lower interest and just a better credit score in general. I've just turned 19 and I would like to be informed of the ins and outs of credit score for a better financing on a house someday, also. I was thinking that maybe I should cancel my Macy's card or something but I've read some comments that this may be bad for my credit also so I don't know. Any advice will help. Thanks for taking the time to read (:

  2. You can do the following to improve your credit score: 1. Pay your bills on time. 2. Transferring balances too often lowers your credit score, so try to pay them off instead of moving them around. 3. Try to use your credit cards less. And if possible, pay them off every month. The bigger the space between your total credit limits and the balance you carry, the better. 4. Do not close your old paid-off accounts. By closing them, you shorten your credit report, which somehow makes you seem less creditworthy to the lenders.
