help with credit score

free credit scores

Why is your personal credit score so private and you have to pay to know what it is; any free websites?

Public Comments

  1. You can legally request your credit score for free once a year. but I'm not from the US so I don't know how.
  2. Because it is a proprietary information product from FICO.
  3. Freecreditreport.com
  4. freecreditreport.com duh! haven't you seen the commercials?
  5. welll i was shopping for a new wich ones me a cool convertable or and suv ? to bad i did not know my credit was wack. no am drivng of the lot a in a used sub compact f-r-e-e that spells free credit report dot com baby . i saw there ads on my tv thought about going but was to lazy. now instead of rolling fat and looking fly . my legs are sticking to the vynyl and my poses getting laughed at . f-r-e-e thaty spells free credit report dot com baby.
  6. Freecreditreport.com is not free, you have to subscribe to their credit monitoring service. No big deal if you want to pay for this service. However, annualcreditreport.com IS free, and you only have to answer questions you should know the answer to, so you may want to know where your birth certificate, SS#, or any other info specific to you. This is the website I used when we were trying to buy a new house, and where I found out someone had tried to use my name to get a credit card. Also, it's not so much that the number is private, but the information used to make sure it is your personal number is. Good luck!
  7. NOT freecreditreport.com Noone gives you FICO scores for free. Not even annualcreditreport.com Annualcreditreport will give you a free credit report but they wont tell you the score unless you pay like $7 or something per agnecy. I know it doesn't make sense. It is your record that someone keeps and others use it to determine your worthiness and yet you have to pay yourself for it to access it. But then again its capitalism baby!
  8. ok first off DO NOT go to freecreditreport.com the first month is free but after that they charge you $12 a month. Any site that wants a credit card at sign up is out to get you and should be ignored. The one below will give you a free credit REPORT but to get the credit score is like a one time fee of $8.(off course i'm a cheap a ss and didnt get it) Plus you are suppose to get one FREE annually : )
  9. it cots money because each agency creates their own unique formula to create a score - if you went to all that trouble for something as valuable as it is, would YOU want to give it away fro free and you don;t get a free score every year - you only get a free credit report from each bureau each year and that does not include the score - you still have to pay for that and it might not be exactly the same score as a loan company would get - I paid for min earlier this year and it came back 760+, when I applied for a loan to buy a rental property a couple of weeks later, they only got a 718 score - there is no reason it should have dropped 50 point s in a few weeks
  10. Credit Reports are free at annualcreditreport.com.. you are entitled to 1 free report per year from all 3 reporting agencies.. however credit score - you gotto pay.. $7.95 for Equifax and Transunion and $5.95 from Experian... If you applied for loans and stuff, your bank or loan officer will also be able to tell you what your score without you having to pay for it.. but other than that.. you gotsto pay..!!
  11. You don't need to know your score. If you've been paing your bills, your score is good. If not, then your score is bad, but there's nothing you can do about it. All the "know your score" is hype that was dreamed up by the credit bureaus to generate fees after the governement said they have to let you see your report for free at annualcreditreport.com
  12. Try this one - http://freecreditreport.sinfree.net I use it to monitor my credit score during last 3 years. And also cleaned off some bad items from my credit report.
