Will disputing old accounts from my credit report help to raise my credit score?
I read that early November is the best time to dispute becuase of the holidays. I am able to get prints of my reports from annualcreditreport.com, after printing I noticed some accounts on my report that were 4 to 6 and one that was even 10 years old. I'm thinking it would make my report look better if these were removed?:

- do the older items show that you are a good credit risk?(meaning you paid ontime, everytime?) if they do, leave them. if you find items that are incorrect, challenge them. write to the agency and tell them what items are wrong. they will have to investigate the item and prove if it is correct or remove them and you will get a written response telling you what they did.
- If the accounts aren't in bad standing, I would keep them on there. As long as they have no negative marks, they shouldnt have an adverse affect on your credit report. In addition to having good current open accounts, it also good to show your credit history and how long you've had credit accounts as well. Now, if the accounts are negative marks on your report and are past the 7-10 year mark or are almost at the 7 year mark, you should dispute them so that the negative marks do not appear on your report. If you succeed in getting the negative marks off, your credit will improve. Its actually really easy to dispute an entry if you go to the indivudal credit bureau website and dispute online.
