Removed as authorize user hurt or help my credit score?

I little while back I piggybacked on a family members higher limit credit cards / had them add me as an authorized user simply to boost my credit. Well a couple months later I noticed the balance to credit available ratio is quite high on 2 of those cards. So the question is, if I have myself removed as an authorized user, will these cards show anything negative such as close account or cancelled account? And most importantly would it overall help or hurt my credit score?

  1. If you are removed as an authorized user then the accounts should soon disappear from your credit reports. If you have a thin file then you will probably take a pretty good hit if they are removed. If you have a good credit history without having the AU cards then your scores may or may not drop when they are removed. If you know the family member is having financial difficulties then you might go ahead and have yourself removed now rather than waiting until they default. If the family member is not having financial difficulties and plans on paying the cards off or down soon then you might take a wait and see approach.
