How do I become an Intelligence Specialist for the Navy if I have bad credit and things in collections?

Im in the process of enlisting and want to join as an IS but my credit stinks. Is there a way that I can join and then start paying off all my debts without interfering with my training to become or becoming an IS?

  1. No you have to pay off all your debts, thou you may just need to pay your parking tickets. actually if I remember correctly and don't quot me on this. You can join with any credit and even get extinctions on debts during your training because the credit companies or what ever they are will be getting there money for sure. cuz you will have a guaranteed income for at least 4 years. talk to a recruiter if you can not add some more details and Ill ask my father (he is a navy recruiter) P.s. I will be checking back if you care for the right answer.
  2. If they truly have anything to do with what you're trying to do ,be a part of or associate yourself with ..?..?..?.. You just might want to start showing that you are ; Or trying to take care of it little by little !! & try to show on other levels how responsible you are or can be !!?!! G/L~!!! r'`R`'r
  3. That's going to be tough because you need to get a security clearance. To get one you have to show you're trustworthy and not easily uncompromisable. Unfortunately, having bad credit and things in collections is going to show that you get into problems with money and might be influenced to exchange information for cash. Sorry but this is one of the consequences of your actions thus far. Even if you cleared your debts today, they'll stay on your credit report for years. If you try to hide the fact that you were in debt, then you won't be considered trustworthy anyway. Your recruiter may not tell you this, he/she still has a quota, but you need to look for another rating that doesn't involve a clearance.
  4. having stuff currently in collections is pretty much a show stopper. too high a risk. you will have to pay all the debt off BEFORE getting a Clearance.
