Do u have to have a good credit score to get an account with a bank?

I am trying to set up a direct deposit with my work because i am going on a trip at the end of may but i don't have a bank account to set it up with. And as of right now i don't know my credit score but i know its bad because i have loans out from college that i still need to pay and I'm behind payments. Help will be much appreciated.

1. nope, just some money to deposit. As long as you don't owe any other bank money.
2. They will check to see if you have a history of writing bad checks - the Chex system at most banks. This matters much more than specific credit score.
