Can someone help me with my credit score?
My credit score is very low due to the fact that my ex-husband used my name and SS number and then never paid for what he bought. I just didn't know that he was doing that as he opened all of the mail. Anyway, here I am with a credit score that is very low. I need to have a surgical procedure done. I can get financial help to pay for it, but my credit score is too low to qualify. Is there ANYTHING that I can do? I have a good job and have always been employed. I don't know how to raise my credit score. I was actually turned down for a Bank of America secured credit card even though my checking and savings accounts are there! What in the world can I do to fix this? If ther is anything, does it take a long time?

- your only way of raising the score is to pay off the debts yourself. . my sister got stuck with her ex husbands problems just like you and it's taken her almost 7 years to pay off the debts and get her credit score on the rise again. . she thought that after her divorce was final the debts would be his responsiblity but that was not true because they were in her name he was not responsible.
- It takes time to correct the credit score your ex pinned on you. I do have a web site that can help you find ways to repair it without all the trial and error. http://www.thecreditrepairmanual.com Good Luck it gets better...you are on the road to recovery!
- The only way to fix this short of paying every thing off is to file charges against your ex-husband for identity theft and fraud, which you should have done when you divorced him. If you can prove that he did this without your knowledge? You can get this removed from your credit report. My Wife went through this with her Son and one of her credit cards, it's tough but it can be done. Her credit is clear again and he is in jail.
